70 years in the making

Jim Clancy was born in Liverpool in 1922 and began his working life in Bootle as a sheet metal worker, making anything and everything out of metal.

During the 2nd World War, Jim enrolled to the RAF and did his basic training in Weeton, where he met his lovely wife Joan. During the War Jim was called on to repair all sorts of things, from tanks, weapons and to military vehicles, it was here that Jims love of automobiles and how they operate started.

After the War Jim moved to the Blackpool area and in 1949 he set up a small business called ‘J.O. Clancy Sheet Metal Workers.’ He moved to the premises on Station Road, Poulton-Le-Fylde in 1962, working from a small yard, he soon expanded the business and built two additional buildings to accommodate the extra work.

In 1991, Jim Clancy and Sons Ltd was born as Jims four sons, Stephen, Owen, David and Michael decided to join forces and run the family business together. They had all been working in the auto trade in different roles for many years and their combined knowledge and experience on vehicle repairs saw the business boom. They expanded the company further and decided to build a purpose built garage at the front of the existing buildings.

As a long standing local family business, Jim Clancy and Sons reputation and expertise goes before them, as an outstanding and professional auto body repair centre.
